Pylons
There are three major Overhead Lines planned by SSEN which would destroy the iconic Scottish scenery so loved by us and so many in the UK and beyond.
Two of the lines have been roundly rejected by the relevant Councils, thus triggering a Public Local Inquiry:
1. Spittal to Beauly - rejected by The Highland Council
2. Kintore to Tealing - rejected unanimously by Angus Council
There is one more OHL, though, and there is less than a week to go until the deadline of 24th November.
That's the Beauly to Peterhead OHL which spans approximately one hundred and eighty-six kilometres from Beauly, near Inverness in the Highlands to Peterhead in Aberdeenshire - the spearing in of over 500 superpylons, at heights of up to 236 feet (72m).
The route cuts through farmland, peatland, and woodland - some of the most unspoiled and rural areas of northern Scotland, thereby establishing a permanent industrial corridor within the landscape.
Yesterday, when Angus Councillors unanimously made the decision to object to the Kintore-Tealing OHL, Brechin Councillor Chris Beattie, SNP, said: “๐๐ ๐ค๐ง๐จ๐ฐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐ ๐๐ซ๐ฌ ๐ ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐ข๐ง๐ช๐ฎ๐ข๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐ฎ๐ญ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ญ’๐ฌ ๐ฐ๐ก๐๐ญ’๐ฌ ๐ง๐๐๐๐๐.
Well said, that man - that's exactly what it is. All three OHLs are - the destruction of huge swathes of Northern Scotland which brings us back to the third of the lines in the pipeline - Beauly to Peterhead.
The other two OHLs attracted huge numbers of objections which no doubt were a major part of the two Council decisions.
Beauly to Peterhead is lagging behind somewhat.
Lyndsey Ward has said this:
Lyndsey is right; this is the modus operandi by which the likes of SSEN hope to ride roughshod over communities.
We also think that perhaps people are confused by which is which OHL and it's why we've set out all three here.
We would appeal to all our friends to take a couple of minutes of your time to help all those folk who are fighting so hard for their voices to be heard.
ObjectNow have made it so easy. You do not have to live in Scotland to be able to object - you may be a visitor, occasional or frequent; it may be your ancestral home. In this case, you would be best to use the edit facility to introduce why you are objecting; again, that's so easy.
A reminder that everyone in a household can object individually. Provided children are old enough to understand and have their own views, there is nothing to preclude them from objecting - it's their future world which would become industrialised.
This is the link to the simple three-step process: https://beaulytopeterhead.object.now/...
Step One
Enter your name, address and postcode/zip code so your objection is valid.
Step Two
Add your personal comments if you wish, or leave to the edit.
Step Three
Generate, check, and press send which forwards your objection letter to the authority.
